The player takes control of Donna, who wakes up naked in a hotel room just before dawn. She isn't aware of what happened to Christian, the man she met with a few days ago. As she tries to secure her life, she finds herself in a hostile city. The locals are frightened of her, and there is no sign of any friendly inhabitants.
As she starts to explore the city, the game's settings are reminiscent of Vampire: The Masquerade and World of Darkness. Even some of her powers have similar names. The atmosphere is dark and oppressive, with a lot of decadence.
During the course of the story, the player learns more about the nature of the quest that Christian came on and about what led to his death. She also meets up with journalists who try to alarm their countrymen of dirty politics in the government. The player can also take part in playable dream sequences that help further unravel the story.
This is an excellent horror/adventure game, which makes good use of the genre's tropes without being too cliche. The game also features a few quality puzzles. The gameplay is quite challenging, but it is never frustrating. The dialogue is also very well done. Despite its flaws, this is one of the better examples of the genre, and it's worth playing.
